Anybody played the "Bonus 6s" poker game at Mountain High? :?:

I noticed it at about 1:00AM, so only got to play for a little bit of time, but I won over $100 in about 30 minutes. 8)

Basically, this is how it works;
- Put down $5 chip on "1" and optional $2.50 chip on "insurance"
- Then dealer places one community card face up and deals all players two face down cards.
- Player must make pair of sixes or better to win 1-to-1, better hands pay higher
- If you don't have a pair with first three cards, $5 more to get fourth card.
- Another $5 for fifth street.
- If player doesn't have sixes or better by fifth street, and posted $2.50 insurance, they can buy a sixth card for another $5.
- No 6s or better, house takes bets.

Kinda like video poker, but live. :) You are not playing against any other players, just the house and 6s or better cards. I thought it was pretty cool, and wanted to let you guys know about it, and see what you think. It's right by the BlackJack tables at Mountain High, so it's a great place to play while you are waiting for a live poker table...

It is a fun game - I have play at Fitz before and at the Riv.

I still prefer blackjack if I am going to play anything other than poker - just has the best odds against the house. Bonus 6 isn't bad - it is a lot better than "let it ride" atleast.

I don't care for Bonus 6...wife loves it though. If I'm not playing poker, I too will go to the black jack table.

I also like Black Jack, but I dont go to Blackhawk very often. Matter of fact I have only been there once. It is pretty nice up there though.

to me it sounds like an easyer way for the casino to take lot of money. but hay thats what there in business for. not much of a game of skill is it.

Quick comment on the comment that bonus six is at least better then let it ride in terms of the house edge. According to wizardofodds.com the house edge on bonus six is 10.42% vs. 3.5% for let it ride.

Side note on strategy for bonus six is that you should never buy the sixth card, it increases the house edge to 23.83%.
