Has anyone ever played Spread limit? This seems bizarre to me, but I noticed that the Excalibur has $1-3 and $2-$6 spread limit....you can bet or raise anywhere from 1-3 dollars or 2-6 respectively on any round of betting...

Blackhawk has $2-5 spread limit.
The only thing is that the raise has to be equal to the bet. For example, if you bet $3, you have to raise at least $3.

Yes, in fact, before the Gilpin opened, 2-5 spread limit was the only game available in Blackhawk.

Heh. I remember playing 20 years ago when I'd never even HEARD of structured limits. All the games were like dime-ante, fifty-cent limit. Each bet in any round can be anwhere from ten cents to fifty cents.
I'll offer structured limits in my home game as a bow to current trends. Not worth fighting, and it does have some advantages. However, I still prefer a range. More options.
I run games like HE and Omaha with structured betting, draw and stud with ante/limit. But if someone wants to deal stud with structured limits, that's fine. Not sure if HE works well with antes instead of blinds. Too easy to play every hand.

It is worth playing up the hill once in awhile. You would be suprised at how many people play up there that have no idea what they are doing. And since you can turn that 2/5 game into basically a $5/5 game by betting the max everytime you can take home some nice cash once in awhile.

Anyone know why it took them so long to get 2/4 limit to the hill?

Well, I think the philosophy goes something like this...
People like to gamble, and the max bet allowed by law is $5, so why not let them make the max bet/raise in every betting round?
That is my guess anyway. If you think 2-5 or 5-5 is bad because of the chasers, wait till you play 2-4. They can see the river for even less money. Because many people up there don't care about their pot odds, they just want to win the pot, the double bet on the turn and river doesn't do much.
You just need to know that in most cases you are playing no fold-em hold-em, and adjust your play. You will almost always have to show down the best hand.
