Does anyone up there actually beat the game?
Who has more money than skill?
There are so many characters up there I wonder who I should seek out and who I should avoid if table selection permits

I am clearly the best, as I win every time I play.
Exactly what kind of answer are you looking for here? Do you want names and mug shots of all the good players?

If you're just wondering if it's possible to beat the game and the rake, yes it is. I have almost 10 years of 2-5 spread limit stats from Cripple Creek and Black Hawk and I'm close to $4/hour (just under). Personally, I would like it to be a little better than that.

well i will tell you the best player up there and he plays at the lodge and mt high. his nickname is rocky. just ask the floor and they will tell you if he is there or not. he usually plays durring the day. I olny play up there to have fun and toke my buddies, and sometimes walk with a profit.

:schild27: Welcome to the forum Ira. There are quite a few good players up in blackhawk. Rocky is a good player. There is another guy named Rick who plays (and wins) several of the weekday noon tourneys at Mountain high. Ask the floor person if either one is there. They are fun to "watch."

But... I couldn't possibly be the best because I only have something shy of 20 posts here? You don't recognize me? Let's be honest. There are a few good players up there, but it doesn't take a whole lot to be the best player in Blackhawk. In all honesty, I have good confidence that I'll most likely be the best player at most any table I sit at in Blackhawk. That said, to sit here and make it out like we're all big men on a message board is quite silly.
Also, I was joking. Sorry for leaving out the [sarcasm] tags, but thanks for the condescension anyway.

That's cool Patrick. There are a couple of us who venture up the hill 1-2 times a week. I have met, and played with a couple other DenverPoker people. Let us know when you are going up....it will be fun.

I'm not sure anyone wins up there ... with the 10% Rake.
Matt
I know i've done well up there! I haven't been up there too many times...but the first 25 trips i avg. about $125 profit per trip. Of course the cards were running extremely well but I know it's a very beatable game. However if you tip way to much like a lot of people do you will never beat the game. Compared to most people i would say that I'm not a very good tipper. But after you see idiot after idiot tip the dealer $3-5 on a $50 pot...it makes it easier for me not to tip them so much because the losers are doing it for me!
Just my thoughts.

I generally tip $1 regardless of the size, however if it's under a $20 pot I won't tip that hand. If I win back to back big pots, I will throw the dealer $2 on the second one...
Yes the games up there are beatable...people play WAAAAYYY too many hands....
