Anyone that goes up to the casinos, please post current bad beat jackpot amounts.
The Lodge (as of 1/26/05)
As reported by a co-worker...
5-5 : just over $100,000
2-5 : over $40,000
One hand he had queens over tens, and lost to a royal flush. So close, yet so far.

Mt. High Casino was around $26,000.
Qualifying hand is aces over to quad 4's or better, I believe.
Note: none of this is official but close.

It's actually Aces over Jacks have to be beaten by a better hand.
I have compiled a list of all possible bad beats in this thread (http://denverpoker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=487).

just so the "KING" has it right it is aces full of jacks beaten by a better hand and BOTH cards in the hand must play.

I actually had a copy of Mountain High's Bad Beat Jackpot rules, and was going to post it on here, but it disappeared. :( Next time....

Well I know that if you want to hit that bad beat at Mt high just have Judy or Tami deal to you. They have dealt out the most money in BBJ for this year. I told them to go on vacation in november just to let it build up again lol. I think that the shufflers help too. lmao at one point in time when 3 in a week were dealt out, JR told all the dealers to cut the deck extra before putting it into the shuffler to cut back on the bad beats being awarded.
DID U KNOW, that when a BB is hit at the lodge, they keep an administrative fee? Mt high doesn't. ALSO the BB at Mt high is getting bigger because in about oct or nov last year JR upped the rake to $5 all the time. $1 at ten, at 20 and one at 30 for the house then $1 at 40 and 50 for the JP. and he said he would never up the rake lmao.

$5 rake is ridiculous. I wonder if when the Gilpin opens up it's room, and a couple other casinos expand, if the competition is going to undercut that to get customers. Poker rooms are one part of our economic democracy that works!
On the other hand...I suspect most of the players up the hill are obvlivious to this surcharge.

I agree with you mikef. I don't think people understand why, or even notice monies are being taken off the table by the dealers. they just "play"

Almost forgot about this. When I was sitting at the Midnight Rose in Cripple Creek a few months ago playing 2-5 (I used to live near there, so I visit friends once in a while, what a hike from Black Hawk!), somebody told me one other BBJ requirement. There must be $30 in the pot.
Seems like a weird rule. Hard to believe a couple of quads or something like this would go check-check, check-check and check-check!

It's $40 at Mountain High (and I think The Lodge). As I'm working on my bad beat jackpot hand list, I think there might be situations where you wouldn't bet big with the cards you have and what's on the board.

are you sure about this? When I worked there it was only $30. In fact a bad beat was dealt one night and they only had 28 in the pot lmao. str8 flush over quad 3's. they went bananas.

Just a clarification - Mt. High rakes 10% up to $3 from each pot. The other $2 go to the bad beat jackpot, of which 100% goes back to the players (well, a few lucky ones). Sure, it cuts into your profit, but it is not a house take, they pay back 100%, so it is like throwing $2 in a slot machine that pays back 100% and only has a jackpot. Try getting those odds on any other house bet. I think Mt. High is the best place to play up there.
One more note on the bad beat qualifier (at Mt. High at least) - if there are 3 Aces on the board, it is nullified, so if two players have KK QQ or JJ and the board comes AAA it is not a bad beat. AK or AQ or AJ with AAKQJ on the board makes a bad beat.
I was up there last night and was close but so far away - I had KK, opponent had 33 and board came K-9-?-3-K. Forgot what ? was but if 9 or ? was a 3, it would have been a bad beat. Quad kings on the river is not a bad hand, though. My opponent played it rather well to minimize his loss (unfortunately). I wish he had AA and an A hit. That would have also been a bad beat. Here is how the betting went: (I am A, he is B)
A: KK
B: 33
A raises to 7
B calls 7
(everyone else folds)
Flop - K-9-?
A bets 5
B calls
Turn - 3
A bets 5
B raises to 10
A raises to 15
B calls 15
River - K
A bets 5
B calls 5
A shows
B gets up and takes a walk
If I can count, I won $29: B put in $30 plus $2 from the blind, minus a $3 house rake. But I also won the "high hand" for the night with KKKK9, adding another $25.

5-5: Up to $109,000 now

In response to znamenacek's post.
What the heck was B even doing in that pot? No implied odds with 33 to call a max raise pre-flop, and then just calling your max bet on the flop with an underpair and a likely 2-outer? I want B's address so I can invite him to every home game I play in!!!!!! :D
Good thing he took a walk, he needed it.
The bad beat was hit at MH Friday...I was at another table

According to my co-worker, the 5-5 Bad Beat Jackpot at the Lodge has finally been cracked.
I was up there Friday night, and it was the 2-5 jackpot that hit. The 5-5 is at about 108K

Friday night, 2/25 at Fortune Valley.
2-5 jackpot listed as:
8450
3200
1750
or something like that. Does that mean 8450 for the loser, 3200 for the winner and 1750 for rest of the table?
Mike
P.S. I lost a whole $15 in 3 hours. I don't win every time :(

No it means they have 3 jackpots so if 3 hit in one day they all get some money - they break that total out by percentages, I think its 40% loser, 30% winner and 30% rest of the table. I was lucky enough to sit at a BB table there a couple of weeks ago $560 for my seat

Thank you for the explanation, and congrats! :D
My buddy hit the bad beat at Mountain High Sunday night. I just missed getting a seat at his table.

Double Eagle in Cripple Creek as of 3/5:
PRIMARY = $ 82,171.05
SECONDARY = $ 45,238.80
THIRD = $ 32,369.40
I played there 2 weeks ago and saw 3 hands that were one card off on our table. The Primary was $76k and some change that weekend, still would have loved a piece of that!

I was actually at the 2-5 table that hit the bad beat at Double Eagle last Sunday. 4 Kings over 4 Jacks. Just for sitting there my cut was $3094.16. Nice payday for sure.
