My husband & I want to go to the hills for a no-limit hold'em tourney this Saturday or Sunday.
We tried to find tourneys on the city AND casino websites with very little luck!
Does anyone know of weekend no-limit hold'em tourneys for $40 or under buy-in?
If so, where, when and how much?
Also, does anyone know of a good web site to find out this info for myself??? :what:

Mountain High Casino holds two, 20-person no-limit tournaments every day at noon. One is a $35 buy-in (+$15 re-buy/add-on), the other is $25 (+$10). Sign-ups start at 10:30am, and players seated at a table have first-choice.
When I went a few weeks ago, the $35 tournament only had 19 people, and the $25 tournament filled up around 11:15 or so.
Complete rules are posted here (http://denverpoker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2886#2886).
The casino's website don't really want to promote their poker rooms, nor their tournaments, as it creates very little profit compared to the other gambling options.

Wouldn't you think taht the more people who get to the casino...for whatever reason, the more $$$ they would make???

I heard that they only generate on average $70/hr on poker and it takes up a lot of room that much more profitable slots could be occupying. However because of the huge and growing demand for poker, they are sort of reverting back the way it was some years back and opening up more or bigger poker rooms again.

Mt High is a good room and the tourneys are ok. The problem is that they are losing huge ammounts of money on the drop durring these things. They will break live games to run the tourney and they dont keep anything for the house. this is changing tho. on the rumor mill, they are eliminating the weekend tourneys and the womens only on thursday nights. theres a new sherriff in town running the room and he is cleaning house and the drop will go up to what it was. Also expect to see a buy in fee for the tournaments that they do keep.

Mt. High does start off with about three tables before the tourney's begin, then by the time the tourney starts, there is one to two tables still for cash games. After the toruney, there are anywhere from four to six tables running.
They have a fee already for the tourneys, don't they??? Those fees may be increased, but, who knows??

as of today there is not yet a buy in fee just a straight buy in and on some, rebuys. But lupe the new table games mngr, is talking about adding a fee because of the loss of revenue to the room when the tourneys are going on.
