NORMALLY the minimum bet will be equal to the Big Blind and max is what ever you have in front of you. I say normally because there are some differences in various run tourneys and you should ask about the house rules before the start.
If it is a structured tourney as many are running in town lately, they should have a copy of the rules printed/posted somewhere that you can read before the start of the game.

Biggest tip, PAY ATTENTION to the action and act when it's your turn, not before.

Even BIGGER tip. Ask someone at the table. Poker players are really a pretty good bunch of people and 'old timers' are usually very helpful to people just learning the game. Partly because they want to see new people learn to play correctly but I think mostly because they know they will end up getting all their chips

And if your not Gus Hanson in disguise here, try not to go all in with 6 4 off ;)

thanks for the tips. it's a denver poker tourney at my local bar. im pretty familiar with most of the ettiquette and rules, im just used to playing at house games, where every house has its own rules for betting. going out of turn however is one of my biggest pet peeves. my friends all give me a hard time for being a poker junkee. does staying at barnes and nobles and buying poker books make me a junkee? or taping every how that has to do with any type of poker on tv? should i c someone about this? 8)

When in dought go "ALL IN" lol no dont do that unless u think u can win...lol there is a command trend thats played now..i dont really play by it all the time but most say is u want to a hand bet 3 time the big blind this was u weed out players try'n to play off the flop. but that is kind of a know play so i say just play your way and see how that works.
