I am posting this in it's entirety in case any of you wish to help out or attend.....

To Whom It May Concern,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Urban Citizens is a community outreach program aimed at helping effective organizations in the state. The Urban Citizen Project, headed by Harvey Bishop at the University of Colorado was founded in 1993 to support various Denver area community development programs. Urban Citizen Project helps form students into social entrepreneurs. Mentoring children, assisting the homeless, preparing high school students for college, providing funds for food baskets and building a playground are just a few of the projects Urban Citizens supports.
This semester our group is holding a fundraising event, which is to be held at the Space Gallery in Denver on December 12, 2008. This event will be a social networking event and will also consist of a poker tournament. 100% of all proceeds from this event will go to the local nonprofits that we have selected.

Every member of Urban Citizen volunteers at different organizations in the state and through our relationships we determine the most effective ones. This semester our main organizations selected include Operation Frontline, Women’s Global empowerment, Four Winds, and El Centro. Operation Frontline works to provide nutritious meals and healthy eating habits for lower income families and prevent malnutrition among families in Denver. Women’s Global Empowerment is very successful nonprofit whose founder Karen Sugar, a true entrepreneur, is a leading nonprofit in Denver that provides micro credit loans to women in Uganda. These loans are only given to groups of women who use the loan to start a business for themselves. These loans go a long way, we are not just giving people food for a day, and we are giving them an opportunity to begin a new life. Four Winds promotes Native rights and opportunities and El Centro provides assistance to day laborers.

We are in desperate need of dealers for our tournament. We have a total of 12 tables that can hold 6 players per table. We expect the tournament to last from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm. I was hoping you could help us with this problem by either advertising our tournament for dealers willing to volunteer their time. Dealers would not have to pay for food or drink and obviously could keep any tips. If payment is an issue, we could try to work something out but our funds are severely limited. Obviously the more experienced the better. Any advertising will help. Our buy-in is $40 per person and the winner receives a trip to Las Vegas (round trip flight + hotel). We would also be happy to advertise for your site as well such as banners or whatever else. Any help will go a long way in supporting humble organizations that make positive changes in our communities.

Thank you for your support. Please feel free to call if you have other questions: (720) 272-96397
