With the passage of amendment 50 yesterday, I am looking for updates regarding what changes will take place because of this amendment and how long will it take to go into effect. Has anyone heard information relating when the local cities will be voting on this, or how the poker games will change? Has anyone heard if local casinos will be going to a normal limit structure like 3-6, 5-10, 10-20, etc? I'm hoping this also means we'll soon be looking at no limit games (capped at $100 bets of course). Obviously this is pretty exciting, what do you all think?

I talked to a couple dealers and they think the games will be 1-2 with $100 max bet, and 2-5 with $100 max bet. I'm sure there will also be 5-10 and 10-20 limit games as well.
I'm not sure when they'll go through the formality of voting, but I hope it is soon....:-D

It's going to be a definite improvement to Colorado poker. Thanks for the reply Gringo, did they mention anything about min/max buyins? I'm also hoping for a quick vote so we can get this show on the road. :Banane57:

This is going to be great, or as I tell people at work, I could go bankrupt because of it......... :D
I just can't wait for the 100 people in Blackhawk to vote!!!! :)
Good times all around, and hopefully the new Prez can help fix the UIGEA....!!
Maybe now I'll go up the hill more often, I could never take the 5-5 limit crap seriously.

From what I hear, the vote will be in the spring (March or April) with the changes being effective 1/1/2010. Yeah I know, that's a long time from now. The law doesn't move very quickly when it benefits us, only when it sticks it in your :donk:.

Yikes, 1/1/2010! That feels like an eternity away. I guess I was hoping they would have a special vote on this and get everything in place so we can enjoy the new limits by the end of 2008. What a Christmas present that would be. :xcool:

It looks like the higher limits may begin with the tribal casinos. It appears to be written that the Indian casinos can not have stricter rules against them than the corporate run casinos. The tribal casinos are already pushing forward to expand their games and it will be interesting to see who can expand quicker, the tribal casinos or the corporate casinos. Could be good news for those living near the Indian casinos.

Let me clarify, I'm not saying that everything will be effective 1/1/2010. It's quite possible that the $100 max could be implemented by July 1. The Gaming Commission needs to just change the rule/s as it/they pertain to $100 vs $5. Maybe there will be different rakes allowed in the higher limit games than in the lower. The other changes, such as craps, roulette and 24 hour operation might take longer to implement, especially the 24 hour operation as regards to liquor.
Since beverages are comped to active players, it needs to be decided exactly what "sales" of liquor entails. Most likely only soft drinks will be dispensed between 01:30 and 08:00 or whenever they can start selling. The rules for craps and roulette need to be spelled out in detail, although they can be boiler plated from other states and reviewed.
One final hurdle to the $100 bet will be the beneficiary of the increased rakes/profits and how they get allocated to the Community College Fund (or whatever the bureaucrats call it) vs the Historic Preservation Fund.
How are the increased limit games/machines/new games going to be accounted for?

I am a dealer in a casino on the hill, and what I have heard is that the votes will occur in January and February. Changes are likely to take effect on July 1st. The games my casino has talked about(nothing offical of course) is 3-6 during the week and 4-8 with a half kill and 1-2-100 on the weekends. Of course we would likely spread anything that people want to play, so we may have 100 limit games during the week if there is enough interest.

Good to hear adaugust!
I also heard on channel 4 that Cripple Creek will vote on Dec 16th, so maybe they will get going soon after that as well.
Of course, they still have to vote in Favor of this, but I guess that's expected???
I would hope there might be interest in a 10-20 game up there.....3-6 and 4-8 aren't worth much IMO.........
We'll see I guess.

At least 3-6 and 4-8 allow for a little bit of poker playing...its not total bingo. Lets hope that some serious poker will be palyed instead of capping every pot all of the time.

Hey TJ! Long time no talk.
Anyway, from my Vegas trips, 4-8 isn't much better than the 2-5 spread limit up the hill....... :(
I played a 9-18 game at Ceasar's that was pretty good though...
We'll see, I can't wait!! Yum Yum. :)

Alright, Channel 4 reported last night that Cripple Creek has approved the measure!
So now we just need BH and CC to follow suit. :)
This is going to be great for CO poker I believe.

Just saw 9News report that Blackhawk voted today and passed the measure 54 to 6. Hopefully this means a July 1 start date for the new limits.....??

Cripple Creek and Black Hawk will start raising July 2, 2009. It will take that long for the Colorado statutes to catch up with the new laws that past in C. Creek and BH. However, as both Cripple Creek and Black Hawk passed "package laws" (all inclusive), Central City, for some unexplainable reason is voting on each measure individually: extended hours, raising limits, new table games, etc. Now why would they do it that was. What a bunch of morons.
Will Central City be ready by July using this method of voting on individual measures....probably, but what a bunch of morons.
