I got this email today & wondered if anyone has heard about this:
Imagine being on television and showing your friends and family not just your poker skills but your best poker face. Well, now you can! The Poker Network will be filming two shows per week in the Denver Metro area. This is an opportunity for all Denver poker players to participate in The Poker Network Tournament show and The Poker Network Game show. These shows will be airing on both Fox Sports Net and the Ion Network.
How Do I Play?
The first two tournament shows and first two game shows are all open calls. Just show up! Registration will start at 5 p.m. for both shows and will be handled on a first-come first-serve basis. The earlier you come, the better chance you have to be seated first in the tournament show and to be called up to play in the game show. For more information, please email us at
[email protected]
See you on television!
Then it listed some local bars that are holding these games...anyone else hear about this?

This is the next apparition that Doc from the Old APT has moved on to. Here is the section in the APTstars email that gives more details

Play Poker & Be a Star...
The Poker Network is bringing televised local poker games and tournaments to town beginning next week. Be the first of your friends to be on TV.
They have given us tickets for you. As we understand it, your ticket will grant you entry but not necessarily guarantee that you will be chosen to play. Because this is new, we cannot tell you how players will be chosen so be the first to find out.
Tickets can be obtained at the venues where the taping is taking place. They will also be available through APT Stars at the following locations and days.
Scotty Dawgs on Thursday, October 11th; 6:30-8pm
Pifler's on Thursday, October 11th; 8:30-10
C's Bar on Friday, October 12th, 6:30-8pm
Bumpers Bar & Grill on Saturday, October 13th; 7:30-9pm
Teddy T's on Sunday, October 14th; 6:30-8pm
ThePoker Network will be recording both a game show and a tournament show. The game show will be a light hearted fun twist to your Traditional Texas Hold'em game. The tournament show will be just that...a filmed tournament.
According to our tickets, registration is a First Come First Served process.
The proposed schedule is as follows:
Game Show Taping:
10/16/07 at G.I. Jodi's Bar & Grill in Littleton
Registration begins at 5pm, game begins at 7pm
10/23/07 at Haden's Bar & Grill in Aurora

I received the same email. It is curious that an email is listed and
not a website. I wonder if it is a homegrown (Denver) group that
is trying to film a pilot to sell for distribution.

I got the same spam. Anyone who every signed up for APT got it, I'm sure.
Really, does anyone seriously think FSN is buying a program of a bunch of donks at Haden's? We know the organization running it isn't buying a 30 minute block at 2am because...well...because they have no money. :scared:

I thought this thread was called "Poker on TV". They are not on TV yet, and from what I've seen they won't be.
The Poker Network is owned by Andrew "Doc" Hicks.
I would like to see some proof, any proof, that they have a tv deal going. With all the bad press the APT has, I just can't see any honest company doing business with him.

There are several copy right law suits in the works on this. I personally saw two that were filed last week. I dont think these bone heads realize that the whole poker community is gunning for them. If they had half a brain they would leave the country...

Apparently, APT/ PPN / whatever is purchasing airtime on FSN at 3:30 AM Saturday mornings.
FSN is selling the airtime as an informerical. The "APT / PPN / whatevers" have to pay for the filming, editing, and such themselves. I received several phone calls from the video production people that said they dropped out on the filming when they weren't sure they could get paid.
FSN
APT / PPN / Whatever is trying to sell advertising on their "poker show". Ridiculous prices I think...
Matt Sowash and Andrew "Doc" Hicks are the registered owners.
And the beat goes on...

I sent them a wonderful email a few days back, expressing my gratitude for having them stay active in the Denver area poker community, and wishing them the best of luck in their new endeavor!
...and yes that's called sarcasm....

This was just posted on the APT Stars website.
"Network Poker Productions
Due to Network Poker Production's failure to pay for services provided, APT Stars will no longer provide tables or dealers for any event associated with Network Poker Productions nor will we support their endeavor in any way. All dealers provided by APT Stars will be paid by APT Stars immediately. We apologize to any of our players who came out to support us and we thank our dealers for giving it a try. We think this televised local tournament is a fabulous concept and we hope someone else can do it better in the future."
Matt Sowash was arrested last week for Harassment and Stalking of his former girlfriend, Kristin Lange. He is now wearing an ankle bracelet.
Andrew "Doc" Hicks was arrested on Wednesday for Failure to Appear in Wheatridge Court concerning an APT matter.
If you are still believing in these guys, you need to check yourself in to a mental hospital. Might I recommend Shady Acres?

Brian - can't you just keep your comments to the topic? The quote about the status of the Tournament would have been enough....

I'm not sure Brian needed to send PMs to everyone with that message, either.
