Bar poker tour operators are welcome to post in here promoting your own company's events.
Forum members are free to post about their opinions (in a civil manner) about a bar poker tour. For example, how well they run their tournaments, how the dealers are, prizes, etc. Bar poker tour operators are welcome to defend themselves in a civil manner.
This forum will no longer allow posts about things regular bar poker players wouldn't know (or could care less) about--i.e., financial operations, bounced checks, who's in jail, etc.
News articles are welcome to be posted. Discussions will only be about the news article and nothing else.

There. Four rules. Now behave.

I thought my wife and kids were going to go to Sweden a few weeks before I do in December, now it seems that we will all travel together. :(

"Will there be meetings?"
"Sure, we'll have lots of 'em!"
"I hate meetings...."

Not really sure why these rules need to be implemented. If someone knows that a particular bar or tour is operating in a questionable manor (before the news does), these rules prohibit any such posts.

This is a discussion forum dealing with Poker in and around Colorado. Why isn't the fate of one of the bar tours, outside of mainstream news relevant to poker players? Do I have to wait for Barbra Walters to say "___ tour stoped playing at ____ bar because the owner of the bar was operating an illegal side game" to discuss it? The only "public" information would be that the game isn't at ___bar any more, but no explaination as to why. The only reason mainstream news even felt the need to report anything about APT was because of the crazy murder plot with the rattlesnakes. Had the rattlesnakes not been a part of it, I doubt the Denver post would have even posted a paragraph about any of it. In the meantime, everyone here would still be wondering "Where's Moe?" and "What's up with the APT name change?"

I can understand limiting very specific details (like ____ Tour posted a $4375 profit margin over the last 6 month period, or ____ was fired from ____ tour) and serious bad-mouthing of individuals unable to defend themselves, but discussing who is operating legally and who isn't and the consequences resulting from it directly impacts the entire poker playing community.

We, as the post creators, should already know that anything we post here is forever posted in the public eye and we should police ourselves accordlingly. It's up to the admin's and mod's to make sure no one steps over the line (in the rare occurance), and correct the situation if we do. (On a side note, if one of the mod's or admin's feel the need to delete any post for whatever reason, please send an IM to whoever posted it with an explaination as to why it was deleted.)

Because people don't know how to stay on topic and behave. In addition, most of the bashing came from employees of a rival poker tour. Said-poker tour has their own forum if they so choose to continue the bashing.

Honestly, if Rick (the forum owner) was regularly checking this, he would've gotten rid of the Bar Poker forum (again) a long time ago.

I do check it regularly. I just let it go to see how far and how childish some of the posters could get.

I will NEVER let anything go that far again. Deleting posts and or banning posters will happen with the first occurrance of rude or childish behaviour. It doesnt matter if there is a posted rule or not.

We will go by a 'polite civilized society' as a benchmark and go from there.

Where is this "Shangri-La" you speak of? Can I live there too?
