Anyone else ever been here? I decided to take a weekend trip to Deadwood for a few days of poker. I went here and played poker from 3 in the afternoon saturday untill 6am Sunday morning. I had an amazing time, for the first 6-7 hours we played 3-12 spread and that game was nothing but serious poker. At about 10-11pm we started playing 3-6 with kills and overs.

For those of you who aren't familiar. A kill is when a player wins two pots in a row, once that has occurred the blind structure doubles. The player with the kill must then post the blind no matter his position, and he recieves final action before the flop. Overs are buttons some players elect to hold, and when only players with overs are left in the game at the begining of a betting round the blinds double again.

An example of how crazy this can be. Kill in effect betting starts at 6, and 7 players call. flop comes 3s 5c 6s. I'm holding K4s on a big blind one guy bets 6 another raises 12 I call everyone else folds, the three remaining players all have overs. Now betting is uped again to 12-24 and since the next card is the turn we are on 24 bets. Turn comes 7d, now I have a straight and a redraw on 2nd nut flush. First player bets 24 second player folds I raise with 48 whites.... which took a little while to push in. First action reraises to 72 knowing that puts me all in at 60. Of course I call. He flips his cards AQs, now my flush redraw is dead and I'm praying for no more spades. River comes 9c and my heart skips a beat as it is being turned over.

We had a number of hands like this over the course of the night, it was a blast. Who knew 3-6 could be so fun. I will definately head back out to deadwood again sometime, its only about a 5 hour drive and that area is just amazing to visit.

Anyone else go to deadwood much? I'd like to go again in October before winter sets in, but it would be nice to carpool since the ride is somewhat long and gas consuming. Send me a PM if interested, they have $100 bet limits making the experience somewhat vegas like.

really wish that Colorado would adopt that $100 bet rule....at least then you could play some bigger limit games....and some cap NL games...

great trip report, have never been but it's on my list of places to go....probably won't happen in 07 as I already have a trip to Vegas next month and trip to FL in Novemeber.

I have been to deadwood several times, At this time I cant afford to go, but will say it is a great place to visit, eat and enjoy some good poker.

It is a very pretty and fun place in the middle of nothin....

btw the Room rates go WAY down in the fall. The town is "dead" waiting for snow so they can capitalize on the snowmobile interest.

Have fun.
