Holy crap, that's awesome! :)
Even though the show leaves much to be desired, I thought it would be cool to have one here.
Glad GG was able to get it cleared.

I wonder how the $300 events will run?
I'm definitely interested in this.

Thanks pseudo for posting!!

HPT: "How many chips do players start with and why?"

Greg: "Typically in our event players start with 10,000 in the qualifiers and 15,000 in the main event finals. It allows for more play and better poker. This is very rare in today’s poker world, as other poker hosts are always looking to “speed up the play”. With a deep stack, the best players should typically prevail. It protects a strong player from bad beats and suck outs. When we reach the final table, there is often more than three million chips in play."

Hopefully GG management doesn't jump in and say oh we run a 10K chip tourney as well on Fridays.....we start the blinds at 200/400 and they double every 15 minutes because we don't really give a crap what the players want....

The HPT seems to be pretty well run....and I think I will definetly have to hit up one of these qualifiers...

Judging from the structure at HPT's other events. It seems the blinds start at 100 - 100 and jump to 100 -200 in the next round. When it gets to the fourth round they add antes.

Seems like a decent structure and a good tournament. Think I'll play a few satellites and try to get in. Good thing that I noticed at some of their other events is you can win more than once and transfer the win to another person. Since you can't buy in directly in Colorado, you could win a few events and sell your seat. Nice way to freeroll into the main event.

wonder if they play to do multi-table sat. single table SnGs or both?

pseudoswede

This is what I've gathered off teh interweb...

Single-table SnG's will be available.

$34+6 buy-in; 1st place gets a seat into the qualifier
$68+7 buy-in; top 2 get a seat into the qualifier

Both start with 1500 chips, 10-minute rounds, and the blinds are 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000, 1000/2000, and 2000/4000. Do I have to mention that these are Skill Level 0.

Qualifiers start with 10,000 chips and 30-minute rounds:

100/100
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800 + 100
500/1000 + 200
1000/2000 + 300
1500/3000 + 400
2000/4000 + 500
3000/6000 + 500

This is a Skill Level 5 tourney.

Top 20% from each qualifier go into the Main Event Final.

Main Event Final starts you with 15,000 chips and 30-minute rounds.

The biggest difference is that the 100/100 level is eliminated, and that actually makes the Main Event only a Skill Level 4 tourney.

Final 6 make it to the TV table. The director has the choice to bump back the blind levels two or three levels and eliminate antes.

I'm not sure about Colorado laws, but, yes, you can sell any extra seats you win in the SnG's and/or Qualifiers.

Thanks for the info...sounds like the SNGs are too "push and pray" for my liking, but with 20% advancing, and Skill Level 5, the qualifiers may be just my flavor, to give one, maybe two, a shot.

When do the SNG's and qualifiers start? If they are already going then I need to get up the hill.

Looks like it varies with each stop.

My speculation, going backwards...

Sunday, October 14 - Main Event and Final Table
Saturday, October 13 - Qualifiers (one morning, one evening)
Friday, October 12 - Qualifiers (one morning, one evening); SnG's when space is available (???)
Thursday, October 11 - Qualifiers (one morning, one evening) (???); SnG's when space is available
Wednesday, October 10 - SnG's
Tuesday, October 9 - SnG's
Monday, October 8 - SnG's

This would allow for 100 players per qualifier and a 120-player Main Event.

There's no way to tell that until all the qualifiers are done....

They are expecting a really large turn out for this... I'm guessing they'll fill all of the Gates tables with 11 people and go from there.

cool these should match up nicely with my poker ability :)

off topic: I played at GG for the first time in months this past weekend....I like most all of their dealers...but some of their floor are grade-A @ssholes...didn't get screwed on a ruling or anything, but they just seem to have a 'holier than thou' attitude

Is there room to add more tables elsewhere? Maybe over the skywalk (with the 15-foot moving sidewalks)...that would be cool.

I wonder where will they setup the final TV table?

idh78
07-31-2007, 03:34 PM
I would think that they could setup more somewhere....14 tables may not be enough if this thing is going to be as big as everyone is saying...

I guess the big question is are they willing to move out some slot/video poker machines in order to accomplish this?

Heartland Poker Tour has posted their schedule for the Golden Gates Tourney.

http://www.heartlandpokertour.net/eventinfo.php?yid=2007&eid=31

Looks like they'll be running 1 table sit and go's starting on October 1 to qualify for the $300 main event qualifiers. The web site indicates 8 chances to qualify for the main event. The main event seats are transferable, so you can win more then once.

Golden Gates has since added two more tables bringing their table count to 14. If they use all tables for each qualifier, there will be 140 (unless 11 handed) players allowing the top 28 to qualify. This would max the tournament at 224 with a prize pool of around $336,000. Not too bad, first place will be over $90,000. This of course is if they are going to utilize the entire poker room for the qualifiers. Will they clear out the live games to host this event? I don't think they will clear out any slot machine space to host the HPT.

I believe they will sell out of all their qualifiers but this is my opinion. Still sounds like fun and I plan on being there.

Thanks for posting the update.

If you notice, they will have two "flights" for the Main Event on Saturday. Which would make each Main Event flight roughly 112 players each (a number which is not divisible by 10 or 11).

14 tables * 8 players/table = 112

Not saying that's how it will be, just saying the math works that way.

If anyone has an inside contact with the Gates poker people, I propose a few of these tourneys in September...

$55+5
80 players
Structure it how ever they want (perhaps like their typical $55+5 tourneys)

Top 10 players get the Qualifier buy-in ($340) plus an extra $100.

Hopefully it isn't so crazy that some people can't play.

Make a left at The Lodge, drive straight into the Mardi Gras' garage. Find a parking space, go into the elevator lobby, go to the farthest left elevator, go to the first floor, walk into the poker room.

We will begin satellite on October 1st. They will start at 4pm, we will run multiple satellite each night. If you go to
heartlandpokertour.com there is a complete schedule of all the events.

I got this back from Joey at GG. I'm still waiting for an answer as far as call ahead seating, or pre-registration.

When you talk to Joey again, ask if they are considering something like what I proposed (http://www.denverpoker.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10474&postcount=20).

as far as call ahead or pre-registration:

No, you will need to be here the day of the tournaments to register. We are still waiting for the Division of Colorado to approve this tournament before we put out all details on this event.

I haven't asked your question yet swede, but I'm guessing that I should wait until this has a green light for sure to ask.

Saturday night a dealer was telling us that the HPT owners have to get their gaming licenses in CO in order to run the tournament and that is the hold up on it all being 100% definite, but they are handing out flyers with the full schedule like it's posted on the website.

Whilst losing badly at bingo last night at Golden Gates (aka 2/5 no fold'em hold'em), I asked one of the dealers about the status of the HPT event, and was told they had a meeting over the weekend, where the tournament was announced as approved, and a definite.

Of course, I also learned this weekend that I wouldn't be available to play the main event, if I were to qualify, so gack.

I heard it was approved as well.

Guess GG's is giving away satellite entries as part of a weekday promotion. I'm not sure which days it is, but you receive entries during the day for live play and they hold a drawing at 9PM. My brother won the drawing last night and received a $330 satellite seat for the HPT. What a lucky punk! His first time at GG and wins the drawing.

So the schedule says they will be running satellites throughout the evenings. Does anyone know how often and how many tables they will be using?
