Someone got a promo in the mail about this tournament.

$60
10k starting chips
Friday, July 6 at noon (boo!)

I called the poker room, and she said that the blinds will start at 25/50 (although she did sound a little uncertain). She also said this was a one-time deal.

If anyone has additional details, please let us know!

If this is at the Gilpin, I should mention a couple things...

First off, if any noon tourney gets more than six tables now, the levels are reduced from 20 minutes to 15.

Also, the $70/7,000 chips on Sundays is no more.

They have started a nightly $100/9,000 chips, but I understand blinds start at 100/200 and double each time, so it's hardly a deep stack value.

From what I understand the tourney is at the Gates and $60 gets you 10k in chips but the blinds start at 100/200. IMO...not a deep stack tourney at all. If this info is not correct, please disregard and update with correct info.

I was going to wrtie a review on this tourney but never got around to it (played it last friday). This tourney is bogus and stupid. Yes you get 10k in chips but the blinds start at 100/200 so wtf is the point? I was HIGHLY dissapointed. Don't go out of your way to play this one, with 10k in chips with 20 minute blind levels and 100/200 starting blinds you might as well start at 25/50 with 2500 chips. To put in perspective know that by the first break the blinds will be at 300/600. Bunch of crap. Don't waste your time.

This is a new tourney that starts at 9pm. The idea is to have it be over in 2 1/2 hours.

Ya, I figured the intent was to make it short and sweet, but I think they could have accomplished the same at 5,000 chips and a 25/50 initial level. Anyway, it does look like fun, but a bit too pushbotty for my taste.

Now if I could just balla up for the $300. Actually, I'm just waiting until I run a bit better for that one. Been bit by too many 3- and 4-outers lately to chase after it, but that is the one tourney I'm truly jonesing to play. Just want to get off the ass end of variance a bit, first. ;)

I forgot to mention that the breaks are every 80 minutes and are 5 minutes long. I hated it.

Thanks for the review. Glad to know I'm not missing much.

Actually...you say the blinds are 300/600 at the first break, yet the first break is 80 minutes in. Can you clarify?

Assuming the following schedule...

100/200
200/400
300/600
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000

The patience factor is equal to a Skill Level 2 tourney.

Sorry, they would be at 500/1000. I was thinking the breaks were every hour butr they are actually every 4 rounds (80 minutes).
