The Denver Poker Tour is actively trying to get into the Longmont market. Like any business venture, some things are harder to do than others. It shouldn't take much longer, we are currently ready to announce two NEW locations in Greeley.
We have also added a few locations in Denver. Please feel free to check out our website for more details.

The Denver Poker Tour has severed its relationship with Cadillac Jacks, 3 Jacks and JL Cheers after almost three years. This decision has been a difficult one for DPT and although, it may seem that it occurred abruptly, it has been a long time coming. Without going into details, senior management at the DPT have concluded that continuing our relationship with these bars was not in the best interests of our players and secondarily with the goals of the DPT. There are many reasons for this severance, but the DPT will continue work with other bars to provide their customers (our players) with the best bar poker experience possible.

We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you, our players, and further, you can expect the DPT will soon be adding bar dates to replace those of Cadillac Jacks, 3 Jacks and JL Cheers.

We thank you for your patronage and understanding, just like a marriage, sometimes business relationship sours over time.

It looks like DPT is back at Caddy's. What has changed so that it's in the best interest of your players?

Thank you for your letter. One of the things that we have changed, is we have encouraged Cadillac Jack to run more than one table. We just wanted to keep the waitlist down, so the players would be a little happier. So far it seems to be working.

Brian, here's a really dumb one for you:

I'm finding myself in Denver after work tonight, with a couple hours to kill. So, I'm actually planning on trying to play a DPT event (my first in about two years), but only if I can be reasonably assured of seating at 7, or 7:20 at the latest. I plan on seeing some bands around 9:30, so I have no intention of having to wait until 8:15 to sit at a table. But, given my job, I won't get there until 6:30 or so.

My plan is to go to TJ's Wash Park Lounge, because that venue is convenient to where I'm going to be afterwards. Do your venues, and TJ's in particular, take early sign ups by phone, or do they take signups by walk in only?

TIA,
Mondo

Thank you Leif for replying so quickly. I will be showing up at TJ's Wash Park tonight around 8:30. I have a earlier commitment, so I will have to play the conso tables.

Introduce yourself, and I'll buy you a beer.

The Denver Poker Tour has announced a postponement of the Mid-Way Tournament this weekend. The location that was scheduled, Club Paradise, has had an incident at the last minute and has to cancel the event.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. The tournament is currently being rescheduled for a date in December.

Due to a problem with the host location, the Denver Poker Tour had to reschedule its’ Mid-Way Tournament. Club Paradise was closed down for a business violation on Thursday. The Denver Poker Tour found out about this a 4 PM Thursday when we arrived to prepare for the tournament. The problem was not caused by DPT, however we apologize for any confusion or problems this may have caused. We have since been able to reschedule the Mid-Way tournament. There is no way to pick a date that everyone would like, but after a sample polling done last night, at a few of our locations, we were able to come up with a date and a location.

The Mid-Way Tournament will be held at The Summit Conference Center at 411 Sable Blvd. in Aurora, CO. 80011 on Sunday, November 18th. Registration will begin at 9 AM and the tournament will start at 11 AM. All qualified players, regardless of last name or vicinity, will be playing in this tournament at the same time. The tournament will last one day and will be played down to the winner(s).

Over $5000.00 in cash, prizes, and vacations will be up for grabs. We hope to see everyone there!

Thank you,

So... Are we going to have games in Longmont? Is anybody even trying to sign bars? This pertains to the first post in the thread. I just moved to Longmont and wouldnt mind helping out.

There's not a lot of venues available in Longmont, and the Bit is running 5-6 full tables every night of the week except Thursday and Sunday (though they have two Sunday afternoon games).

I suppose there's that new Classics Roadhouse Bar & Grill where Hillbilly BBQ used to be, which may or may not be in a position to host one or two tables, but I don't know that anyone goes there for any reason yet, and dunno how a tour would market in joint that doesn't yet have a regular patronage.

Since DPT sorta abandoned Longmont after the Woody's pizza joint closed a couple of years ago, I rather doubt anyone in Longmont cares about DPT any more, for the most part. Whatever gap in the market opened up at that time has since been filled. I know the former APT tried for quite a while, but never could get a venue in Longmont. In reality, there just aren't a lot of viable venues in Longmont, that aren't already hosting games.

Folks don't want to sign up for a list 24 names deep at a one table game and wait all night, when the Bit can run as many as 7 tables any given night and folks never have to wait.

I think any tour that tried to come into Longmont now would have to treat the Longmont market different than their existing markets, in order to have any shot at all at making a dent in the marketplace, and that wouldn't be fair for that tour's existing venue and player base. Wednesdays were free for a little while, once 4th & Main stopped dealing a game, but the Bit started up their Wednesday game last week.

Oh yeah, I couldn't get TJ's to answer the phone, so I played Cadillac Jacks last Thursday instead. Phoned in at 3:15 pm, and was already #38 on the list. Ugh. But at least players dropped like flies early, so I didn't have to wait overly long for a seat. The game was overly fishy (players calls a raise and an all-in reraise, with 42s) but no worries. :donk:
