I'm gonna be a dad (again) in late July, so I better get a poker fix in well before the due date. I'm also starting grad school this fall, so this would pretty much be my last poker hurrah for a while (maybe again in December when the family leaves for Sweden a few weeks earlier than me).

Dates I'm looking at are June 25, 28, 29 or July 2, 5, 6. Probably going to hit a $60 tourney somewhere.

Hey pseudo,
I'll be at the $300 tourney on the 24th.....nothing else right now (unless I win the damn thing of course... ;) ).
Good luck with everything though!

congratulations on the fatherhood thing again. Now put that thing away....

The best bargain on the hill is the Gilpin $100 all day wednesday deal. Three tourneys, etc, etc....I'm heading up for it next wednesday June 27th with a couple of buddies. Head up for it and we'll meet up?

Congrats swede!

Let us know when you decide to go. It'd be cool to try a denverpoker.com take over of a tourney

I would love to do the Wednesday thing. Even though I get five weeks' vacation, and I've only used 4 days, the rest are all already allocated for the baby and my trip to Sweden in December. Next Wednesday is the Mrs.'s baby shower, and the following Wednesday is a holiday.

As soon as I get a better grasp of my schedule (work is kicking my ass right now--and preventing me from working on the nursery! :D), I'll let everyone know.

Hey Guys,
I'm going to have to disagree with Bruno on this one.......
While the $100 tourney sounds good, the structure of the first two tournaments doesn't really allow for much play after an hour.....

After the break on each tourney, the average chip stack was an "M" of about 8. So it still meant that no hands in the first hour = all in shove fest after the break........

I am going to the 300 game on Sunday, which actually does give you $15K in chips and longer blinds (30 mins instead of 20), and I am hoping that this will be best tourney up there.

It was no fun folding 84, 63, A3, K2, T2, 92, etc etc for an hour and half only to have to go all in with AQ and hope for a miracle (and lose of course.......).

Anyway, just my opinion.......but have fun whatever you play!

I agree with Bruno that Wacky Wednesday is the best bargain up the hill, but I also agree with ctswpt76 that they're not great tourneys. It's almost like playing free poker all day - but you actually pay for it. Donkey's everywhere. A full day of poker, but by the 3rd tourney you're pretty beat and sick of the bad, bad play. Aces cracked by a J/4 "because they were suited" kind of play.

As PowDa stated on a thread, the 300 is by far the best tourney up there. It's a pricey buy in (at least I think so), but worth it if only for the solid play (for the most part).

I plan on playing the Wacky Wednesday tournament on July 4th since I will FINALLY have the day off. My normal 9-5 job doesn't allow me to play this all day tourney unless I use some PTO or sick day. I'm probably not the only person to be thinking about this tournament on a holiday but I wonder if it will be busy because it's a holiday or slow because it's a holiday. Any thoughts.... do I show up early or closer to noon?

I'm kinda thinkin' of doing the same, though with a Rox game on Monday, and Cirque de Soleil on Tuesday, I'll probably wuss out and stay home and relax.

At any rate, if previous experience is any indication, I would show up about 30 minutes earlier than normal. Holidays are pretty active in that joint, and I expect most people playing will plan on buying in for all three. You don't want to get caught out. I'd plan on being there no later than about 10:45. Worst case scenario, you get checked in super quick, and make a few mad mobnies at $2/5 while waiting for the noon tourney to begin.

Yeah, after my bad experience yesterday at the $300 tourney, I would be showing up to that one at 10-10:15 at the LATEST.............

And expect it to be packed. One quote I overheard yesterday was a manager saying "16 games and 14 dealers...." you know that's not good math..........

Anyway, good luck!

I was up there on Presidents Day, and they had 3 Nitros running by 930. ( i think the room doesnt 'open' til ten)

The noon was sold out by 11 and had 110 people in it.

Holidays are a *****

Thanks for the info all!

Sounds like I better head up there around 9:00 and get in early. So much for sleeping in on the holiday... Perhaps I can get a freeroll with a little play in 2/5, besides the bad beat is pretty high right now.

Reviving an old thread.

Heading up tomorrow for the $60 CCS tourney at 7pm.
