Holy crapola batman....
So I'm catching up on my HD-DVR, which is 100% poker shows. Finished the Heads-Up series, was great, except they said Paul W. went to Fairview High School in "California"(!)
<BEGIN RANT>
BUT now I'm watching the WPT from two weeks ago (Foxwoods), and oh my f'ing gawd. That E.G. guy was OBNOXIOUS....I knew it was going to be bad when he starts out on the third hand saying "I'm going to call you....and raise 400k" Um how the hell does this idiot get to the final table of a major event after DAYS of play without someone telling him he can't do that (ie String Raise)?????!!!!!!! Then he goes on to say "Call" in first position....uh "Check" would be correct there buddy.

And the final straw was when they did the little Bio piece and he goes to tears talking about how he puts god first, then family, then friends, then blah blah blah. Oh my freakin' word!!!!!!!! It was bad enough that he was in "insurance"............!

How this dipstick gets 2nd, I will never know (actually I do know because I watched the episode), but damn...............

I thought I had seen annoying players on the WPT (or any poker TV in general), but wow, this guy takes the cake.

Seriously, this guy made my eyes hurt just watching the train wreck he called 'poker'. I am SO GLAD Nenad Medic took it to him in heads-up. I knew Nenad won, but I was actually fearful that this guy was going to win. And the rub it in they kept saying how he won his entry in a $150 satellite..........

Sorry, just had to vent (and vomit) ;)

Yeah, that show was pretty rough to watch. The hand with Liebert busting with a crap flush was a hoot with the string raise. Since I find Kathy irritating I was glad to see EG bust her. I couldn't understand Mimi's weak play, but she is primarily a cash game player. I thought Nenad played perfectly, playing off EG's aggression, keeping the pot small until he had a dominating hand.

The problem with poker on tv is that many people want to be Phil Helmuth or Mike Madisow. They see them doing good, and say to themselves...hmm if they're that obnoxious, and winning, maybe I can be as well.

As for the IDIOT who said I call and raise you $$, the dealer should have stepped in there and said "I'm sorry sir, thats a call..."

Oh they definitely stepped in and said "Uh, no sir, that is a call" I just couldn't get how he could get to the final 6 and not have tried that earlier in the tourney????

Just crazy.....

Is it possible that he was doing that precisely to get a read on Kathy Liebert? If she had a strong hand, she would have raised and he would let his AJ of hearts go right there. You don't give EG the credit he deserves. He was amazingly good and I think was able to push everyone's buttons at the table.

The first hand where he sucks out with 22 v KK was luck, but from then on, all skill.

Um... I don't watch poker on tv really.....

But that's the only way I learn to play....????!!! ;) I know, it's horrible, and the WPT is pretty bad. I'd say as far as skill level goes it's HSP, then PAD, then everything else as equally crappy.....

Brent, I don't think that guy had poker bone in him. So to say he was shooting an angle or actually making a move that was preplanned is giving him too much credit. I mean the look on his face when Jack walks over to "slap him on the wrist" for the string raise was definitely "deer-in-the-headlights" all the way.

But if someone wants to make themselves look like a jackass on national television, then I guess that's their prerogative......

I'm sorry but E.G. gets the award for :donk: of the year in my book.

Anyway, I hope to never watch that episode again........that's all I got. ;)

P.S. It was also hysterical to listen to Mike and VVP try to make sense of what E.G. was doing on almost every hand. They were painfully trying to get into the mind of, say Nenad, as to what HE thought E.G. was thinking, and I kept laughing out loud thinking to myself: "Yeah that would make sense IF he was actually thinking (about poker)!!!!" I highly doubt it was "all skill" to make it to 2nd place, I think it was more "if he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, how can the rest of the table??" Just watch that hand where Nenad flops the TT2 full boat and how E.G. plays it, I really hope you don't think that was 'skill'.....??

It is hard to say what EG was thinking. I don't know if he was interviewed about that hand (but should have been asked). Kathy played it poorly.

Really though, what if Nenad had absolutely no piece of that flop. How would you rate EG's play then?
