Figured I would start a new topic about the event last night.
First I do have to say, Phil Gordon is a LOT of fun. A real people person. He signed autographs and posed for pix with anyone and everyone who asked. And if they didn't ask, he just came up to you and started talking.
I did give Phil a couple of DP shirts :) and they took a pic of him and holding the shirt up and a few of the DP people. I need to contact the ad agency and get the photo cleared for use here but I talked with them and they have no problem with it so with luck they will send it to me in a few days.
The game was pretty good. Free games running on the side before, during and after the tourney.
The set up was very nice.
There was a lot of room for all the tables and it was a good thing because there were a LOT of people. Long b4 the doors opened, the line stretched from the front door to the sidewalk, turned right and went all the way down the block. Hundreds of people standing in the cold and wet rain/snow mix just to get in. They were impressed and a couple even said they were 'shocked' out the huge turnout for the event. The Seagrams people had permanent smiles on their faces all night long.
$2 Seagrams drinks, any kind, all night, plus lots of free drink coupons around.
One thing I learned. hors d' oeuvres must be the french word for fried
DP is now on the map. I spent a lot of time meeting with the 'right' people that were there. Hopefully this will turn into a few invitational type perks. Like an invitational only tourney in AC for a Vette or Porsche or some other such nick nak ;)
We are moving to the front of the line for notices when events of this type take place. :D
I also talked to Phil after the event and met with some of his marketing people. There will be some local sponsorship 'chachkies' being provided from them for some of the local games and tourneys.
Oh yeah, I also played poker. Not great but considering the best cards I got were 99 and I won that pot with them, not too awful. I busted out when the blinds went up and I had enough for 1 blind only. I played the hand blind and went all in. 1 caller. Turned them over to find K3 off. Flop was K 3 rag :) Turn was 5, caller had pocket 5's :(
But it was fun and well run and we had a good time and I was glad to be able to meet some of the people from the forum here.
Next time I hope to see a lot more there.
I am sure we will have more people from there visit here.
