The Denver Poker Tour has expanded the Consolation Table into its' own mini-tournament. We hope this will help players pickup a few extra chips for the monthly tournaments. We have been doing this in St. Louis and Kansas City for the past 6 months.

Thank you,
Brian Masters

Single Table Consolation Tournament Rules

A single table consolation tournament will be set up for between 10 - 14 players. The tournament must start with 10 players, but will have no more than 14 players. (11 sitting down, 3 on the wait list.) The single table consolation tournament will begin using the standard DPT format and rules. Blinds will be regulated by the dealer, and will go up every 25 minutes. Once a player is knocked out, a player from the 3 person wait list will fill their seat. You may play multiple single table consolation tournament tables once you have been knocked out of the game, on the same night, as long as you follow the set forth rules.

You should run a shootout type tourney, as well. My experience with some of your events is that they take advance sign ups and I am like #25 on the wait list even after arriving an hour early. By the time that I am seated, I have to be all in or fold.

We have let our locations now about the concern the players have in regards to a the waitlist being as long as they are sometimes. the locations have said they are interested in adding more tables to ease the congestion. They feel the new Single Table Consolation Tournaments will keep the players around longer, and the would like for the players to be seated quicker to do so.
