The Granddaddy of them all is the Thursday night Tourney at Fortune Valley. they only pay 4 spots so the prize pool is larger - usually $2900 for 1st. The competition is fierce but anyone can win with a little luck and solid poker play. Many types of players play from very aggressive to very stupid (its actually harder to beat the stupid players for they call with anything and always seem to catch some lucky cards - I call it the "Moron Minefield"). It starts at 7pm but you must get there at least 2 hrs ahead of time to sign up and also be playing in a cash game.
It's a $50+10, with 2 $50 rebuys. Starting chips are $1000. Wait till the break (after 3 rounds) and $50 will get you $1500 in chips.
The Sunday and Wednesday tourneys at Colorado Central Station take a close second to the Fortune Valley Tourney. They too are 50+10 with 2 50 rebuys available. They pay 5 positions so the 1st place prize is less than Fortune's but you can also be in the money at 5th place.
Sunday 4pm
Wed 7pm
Get there at least 1 1/2 hours prior to sign up and play.
The Tuesday tourney at Central Station is a great tourney as well. It is a "freezeout" tourney so no rebuys. Because of this the play is tight and aggressive. Less stupid calls (but you'll always have morons at these low level tourneys).
Tues at 7pm... get there 11/2 hours before
On Mondays, Fortune Valley has $50 single table tourneys with the table winner getting $150 and a free entry into the finals. The winner of the finals gets a Free admission into the WSOP in Vegas.
Monday 7pm
For Beginners, Colorado Central Station has a good Monday and Friday night $30 buy in Freezeout tourney. Many beginners so watch out for the "Moron Minefield"!
Friday at 7pm
See ya up there- and please dont suck me out!
matt are there any day games? like noon..thanks..r

jsut some FYI its best not to refar to chip as money. Thus dont put any $$$ after the chip count. if you say 1500chip is the starting amount then everyone will know. If we start to give chips money value then people wont want to spend them for fare of losing there kids collage found and there wifes car. But then again im jsut a stickler for stupid stuff

Thanks for the info, Matt.
I'll start light and try out the Monday or Friday night tournament. Are they single table? What's the payout? How early do you have to show up?

The Monday and Friday tourneys are all multi table. There are usually 40-50 people playing. You should get there at least an hour ahead of time and must play in a cash game while you wait. The payouts are 40,30,20,10
Good Luck!

That always gets to me too. If it were money, you could drop out and take them to the cashier's window. They are chips, or "points" if you will.

Actually, they are always refered to as "$1500 worth of tournament chips"
So please... quit masterbating on your computer keyboard and go up and play some real poker... MM. Better yet stay home, because Im sure you two will call my raises with J7 off!

Rarely will I ever call you, most likely reraise. And nobody is playing with/by themselves here. If you don't like the group, logout/fold. Pretty simple.

funny how nobody ever refers to them as "points" or "chips" but as $$
If you can't tell the difference between tournament $$ and real $$$ you can spend - you probably shouldn't be playing poker - or any game for that matter
I can't wait for a dealer to announce - bob raises to 500 "points"

Just because we have a "strategry" in "Ee-raq" that is not "nuclular" doesn't make it right either.
But whatever, it's all monopoly money anyhow.

I guess I should've been more detailed in my previous post, but I was asking about the Monday/Friday tournaments at CCS.
Are those the payouts for the CCS tournaments, and do you mean $400, $300, $200, and $100?

Thanks again.
Barring something work-related, I'm planning on negotiating the "moron minefield" on December 13. I hope getting there by 6pm will land me a spot.

i'm actually living in Illinois but was just in Denver. Thanks to this board I found out about the only Friday night tourney in Blackhawk, at the Central Station. It was ok. Would have preferred a higher buy-in. Took third and only paid $210 for a $40 entry. But over all had a good time.
Those limits you guys deal with are outrageous. Never saw so many call stations in my life.
Oh ya, tried to find a local game on friday night on this board and couldnt find any action. Are you guys really playing out there?

Congrats on getting 3rd.

And when you say $40, was it $30 entry free + $10 "juice"? That's pretty darn steep if it is.

i actually was playing on the money tables at about three and got on the tourney list right when i got there. Also remember you have to be sitting at a table to get in. As far as the fee, I assume it was $30 + $10, which i though was alot too. But overall, good time.

Yeah the fees are steep, but you have to remember, the floor space could be filled up with slot machines and pay stations pumping quarter after quarter into them. Since they "give away" drinks to players, they need to make their nut some how. Limited gaming has turned casinos into prybars to your wallet. If they could operate as a real business, they wouldn't have to be like that. Like it or not, this is the reality we have. Their (Colorado Revenue) way or the highway (to Vegas). Thanx to the church ladies, we will never have a viable game "above the table."

ya you are right about the drinks. That is kind of a nice bonus.
I will be out in the Denver area again in 3 weeks, so if anyone knows about other things going on please email me.

I spoke to someone at Colorado Central Station last night.
Friday night tournaments @ 7pm
$120 buy-in w/ one $100 re-buy
However, tomorrow's tournament (Dec 10) is a freeroll for those who qualified.
I'm heading up to Blackhawk on Saturday, so I'll try to gather more information.

If you find out any more info, please let us know.
