wtf someone has to know something...lol...ive heard of them but nothing more then hear-say
From what I understand there are only 2 in the state and they are very hard and expensive to get.
An attorney would probably be the only way to get accurate info on what it would take to obtain one.

My partner and I talked to gaming a week ago and were told there were several in Denver. If anyone knows of any (I know the location of 1) I would like to talk to them to get some information. We are looking to open one of our own but have a few simple questions to ask.
Thanks

Believe you're talking about the Matterhorn, and the other is the Gin Rummy Club.

You missed the whole point of this thread. If you are a part of an illegal poker room than who cares if you get caught. There are clubs out there that are "Legal" and that is what I want info on. If we are going to get into the whole legal not legal and keep hush hush about stuff then why post about all the games at local bars - they are all illegal but gaming doesn't care - go talk to them - I did.

just heard a little more about the Gin Rummy club. Sounds to me like you have to be invited in and can only play certain limits until you become one of them (trusted in the group). Still looking for more info.

OK, to get to play at the GRC, you must first get invited. After that, you call in and put your name on a list to play on a certain night. Doors are locked and you do not get in unless your name is on the list for that night.
(It sounds to me like you have to play on that particular night...until you are invited to play on other nights.)
Once you get invited to play on the other nights, it sounds like you can start inviting others into the game.

Remember Guys, No bashing allowed. Commenting on someones manner of play is ok, talking about how you would have played it is ok, but bashing a fellow forum member about how they played a hand is out of line.
Participation is what will make this Forum continue to grow....but bashing will cause people to leave. So relax and enjoy the forum.

It's hard to have to choose between one of 3-4 games on Saturday and not have more than one game a month on the other 6 days a week....
I really want to find a $1/$2 NL game with no rake Sun-Thurs...

I live in South Denver....So Aurora, DTC, Highlands Ranch, Downtown are all an easy drive away.....however I would drive as far as 120th or Castle Rock to find a NL cash game with good people on a regular basis...

So, is the concept that you can open a social club with specific membership rules and that members and/or the club can host a game? Does the club still need a license of some sort? Is the game limited to tourneys? Does the club need to be formed for the purpose of the game or can a 'general' social club host a game?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm fascinated by the concept. (And don't worry I'm not looking to open a club - LOL).

I played in a really good back room game this Friday!! Well run, nice tables, good dealer (me), lots of fun! (High steaks).
Long story, short! Lost a good chunk of money. had a blast! and I learned how many back room poker there really are out there!!

To be legal the club has to form a "social" relationship - that is the key. Poker can not be the only reason you get together although that is the case usually. There is a license to be legit - atleast for denver - not sure of other cities/counties - their license cost around $1200. The club can not be formed for the purpose of the game so any "general" social club could hold a game - of course no rake can be taken.

I belong to a social club and would like to explore the possibility of setting up a legal poker tournament at the club. Does anyone know where I can find documentation (a summary paper, legal analysis, rule book, whatever) that details how to legally run a tournament for cash and other prizes in this situation? I've tried reading through the gaming commission website and can't find anything that covers this. Any help is appreciated.

As a member of a social club in denver, i will tell you that the only way to get into good club is to be invited. Although this may seem hard to do, it is not. There are many clubs in the Denver metro area, and many of them are not extremely strick on letting new players in. My suggestion would be to first find a decent home game and work your way up from there. I know of several people who run games down in denver that are often up the hill. If you have no clue as to where to start, that is a good starting point. Once in you'll have to make a good impression. It is a social club too, so socialize. Nobody likes a mute at the table. Besides that, most places will take care of you. They want your money, but not if your an ass. Good luck, and god bless.

I am also looking for a club in Northern Colorado. I'm looking for a place I can go almost every day of the week, and play 1/2$ or 2/5$ NL games. I have plenty of good references, but none of which that want me to bring my $ up there. So if anyone could lead in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
