High Stakes vs Heartland Poker

Well I watched them both yesterday. HSP is one of if not the best poker shows on TV.

Jennifer OWNED Antonio last night. He was like a whipped puppy who just couldn't quite make it to the paper in time :)

I tell ya, if people thought I was such a fish that they would PAY me $4k to stay in the game, I would have to stop playing for good. Mike is not only obnoxious, but that boy is dumb as a post :-D

Oh yeah, Heartland poker, well that show sucked so bad I didn't make it 1/2 way through. Even for poker I wont watch stuff like that. :quiet1:

I love HSP, but I am not able to watch it very often. I am ok with HPT because it is mainly ordinary people and not just pros, so you know you will see some good play and some bad play, but it still is not my favorite show. For me the best one is WPT.

I absolutely LOVE HSP!!! I love how the blinds don't make the play crazy, and the table talk is some of the best around. And I really have grown to like Gabe Kaplan as a commentator. He has some funny one-liners.

As for HPT, I watch it if it's on, but I have to be honest, I think it is hysterical how they talk about the "big money" to be won, and then they show the girl holding the three $10k bundles like a fan.... :-D Then you watch WPT DUMP piles of cash on the table for ONE event!! It's definitely apples to oranges, but it's poker. Also, I get annoyed when the HPT hosts don't give all of the outs for the players, I know, I know, I'm being "nit-picky" but when they say that the person only has two outs, when in reality, they can catch a runner runner straight or flush, it just makes me cringe.....

I think Gabe catches all of the outs on HSP, and just when he says something and I think to myself, no he's also got x x x x x x as well, he then says it too.


This is semi-OT but how are you guys liking the new PPT show? I like how it leads up to a final table and is not JUST the FT all-in fest like WPT. Plus it's not a bunch of no-names either, every table has familiar faces, which I like too.

I like this show. I actually like it a lot more than the WPT. I guess I prefer to watch the 'pros' They have a lot more color that the middle aged sat winner and the like.

The Intercontinental Poker Tour on CBS is pretty good. Just watch the last semi I had recorded. Should be an interesting final.

I'm not a big fan of an hour of head's-up poker, though.

I echo most of the comments about HSP. Watching this show makes me 100% certain I have no future as a professional poker player! :lol:

I don't get GSN so I haven't seen HSP. I look at the Heartland show until something else comes on. Gawd most of them really suck.

I don't get GSN either, but downloading the episodes is fairly easy.

There's no comparison. HSP is the best poker show on TV. With the exception of Celebrity Poker, HPT is the worst. I immediately delete them from my TiVo.

Also, I like PPT much better than WPT (aka the World Suckout Tour). Two reasons: you get to see action from all stages of the tournament, not just the final table and the quality of poker is much better with all pros and top amateurs. It's becoming the case that WPT is the farm system for PPT. WPT is to PPT what the Nike Tour is to the PGA.

I hope all these poker shows don't make some of you think you're invinsible. I've seen some real :donk: es try to be a little to "wannabe profesional player" because of this. Real funny stuff. Really. Let them be I guesse.


PS, I enjoy watching them show as well. But you only get so much by watching. You need to play. Like alot of my friends say , when you play with better players, it makes you become a better player. That's absolutely true.


Sorry for the newbie rant. I'm just bored and in search of a decent poker game. Don't mean to hijack this thread!
