I thought Raymer wasn't going to play in any WPTE tournaments because of the waiver he would have to sign.
Funny what a prize pool in the millions can do to your principals :)

This show actually has promise. The pros like it because (1) it's not a 7000+ person crapshoot like the WSOP Main Event, (2) it's invite-only, so no wahoos from an on-line satellite qualifier can embarrass them (although Raymer kind of did that to himself!), and (3) lots of cold, hard cash!
But, I think the announcers are boring (did Mark Seif gain about 200 pounds?) and the editing (thanks for the definition of "euphemism") and the split-screens are annoying. You also figure with a room full of "the best of the best", you could afford to have 15 tables with hole-card cams and pick the very best hands from all of the tables instead of having just one "showcase" table.

I just found out that this tourney was held in November 2004.
I recorded it and just watched it this afternoon.
I have to say it was pretty good. Better than the WPT show. They do need ot work on getting a better looking group of players for the TV table though ;)
At least no cheap beer at the end :)
I still like High Stakes Poker best. So far that, IMHO, is the best poker show on TV.
Poker Dome sucks worse than the 2001 ESPN poker reruns.

I thought the announcing was horrible - I expected more out of Seif. It seemed they were talking just to make noise and some of their "analysis" was horrifying. Fun idea though. High Stakes Poker is still my favorite by far.

I agree the announcing is pretty bad. On the last episode, Seif repeated himself about 4 times: "There's not a player out there that doesn't want to be the first ever PPT champion." Isn't it true of tournaments in general that all of the players pretty much want to win it?

Whew, I'm glad I wasn't the only one annoyed by the announcing....
I swear I think Seif only really said that line once and then the editors just cut and pasted it in randomly.....
I almost switched it to MUTE half way through, if it doesn't get better, I may have to do that as an option and have my OWN commentating.
And yes, some of those players make most of us look like "10"s....lol

Well I just watched the PPT final table episode.
Well worth the time. Some great play, though I would question the all in on the final hand.
Guess that's why I wasn't invited to play :)
