I feel like a total donkey for playing like I did, but, just sometimes, I guess the poker gods shines down on the players who've been taking it up the you-know-what all...day...long.

Would any of you had taken this hand down to the river?

Where: Gilpin
When: Around 12:30am (late Saturday night)
What: 2/4 9-handed (one $2 blind)

Hero is MP2 and gets dealt JJ (suits aren't important in this hand).

Pre-flop
UTG+1 raises, UTG+2 calls, MP1 folds, Hero calls, MP3 calls, LP1 calls (?), CO folds, Button folds, BB 3-bets, UTG+1 caps, UTG+2 folds, Hero calls (I probably should have folded*), MP3 calls, LP1 folds, BB calls

* - UTG+1 is a co-worker who is an absolute maniac in our home no-limit tournaments. This was his first time playing poker in Blackhawk, and he was playing just as reckless. He bought in for $80, worked his way up to about $140, then pretty much donked it all away. I think I felt the need to take his last $11!

Flop is JKT

BB checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, MP3 calls, BB 3-bets, UTG+1 throws in $1 and is all-in, Hero calls, MP3 calls

Okay, here I'm thinking I'm up against AA and KK; nonetheless, I trudge on because the pot is so freakin' huge.

Turn is A

BB bets, Hero calls, MP3 raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls, MP3 calls and is all-in

Looking back at this hand, I had 8 outs, or just over 5-1 odds into a huge pot. Should be an automatic call.

River is A

Okay, I think I'm probably up against quad aces or aces full.

BB checks, Hero checks

BB shows AQ for A-high straight
MP3 shows QJ for A-high straight
UTG+1 mucks
Hero shows JJ for jacks full of aces

Much yelling, groaning, applauding, and cursing ensues.

I take in somewhere between $85-95 with this pot!

I think we need a donkey emoticon on this board.

I guess I'm wondering when you all would have folded? Pre-flop? Post-flop facing a raise?

I think by the turn, you're pretty much committed to calling the hand down.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't play much limit anymore:

I'm probably getting out post flop - the flopped set is really exciting until you look at the board, that board just flat out sucks, particularly when you look at the action. I'd be figuring that I'm up against a flopped set of K's and possibly a flopped nut straight in which case we're praying for the case J.

When the turn brings an A it's pretty much just crying calls from there and then a mild stroke when we actually turn out to have the best hand.

I was just kidding with the fish emoticon BTW, I doubt that I would have the discipline to get away from this.

Actually you have 10 outs, the case J, 3 As, 3 Ks, 3 Ts

I think with a pot this big and you have any chance to win, you gotta call.
