So I went up to BH again for Golden Gate's noon tourney and had this hand:

Short story:
Guy limps UTG for $100, another limper, I raise on Button to $400 total, blinds both fold and UTG goes All In for $1850 total, 2nd limper folds back to me.

So the pot has $2500 (1850 from UTG 100 from 2nd limper, my 400, plus 150 in blinds), and it's 1450 more to call. I have ~3800 remaining.

I have AK offsuit and I put him on a smaller pair, so I figured it was about 47%-53%.

Should I call this?? The Pot's giving me ~1.73 to 1 and I'm basically 50/50 on the hand........

I folded it and later after he busted I asked him and he said he had pocket 10s, so I was right in my read, I just want to know if I should have called.

I did "coast" into 6th place (out of 27) and made my $60 back, but I wonder if I had called and won that hand if I would have done better.........??

Comments welcome

P.S. I didn't really like his play either by calling and then overbetting the raise pre-flop.....but oh well, that's why he busted out a short time later and I didn't!!

Well here is my take but I am running sooooooooooooo bad right now

Should I call this??

No. It appears, at least outwardly, it was a nice set up. It has been said a million times, it is far better to GO all in then to CALL an all in.

You did not have pot odds.

The difference between a true 2-1 and the 1.73 you state is the difference between winners and losers over the long haul. You are 'estimating', up wrongly, by about 12% to your favor and that will eventually end up giving you a -EV in your game.

Just MHO

Thanks Rick!
That's what I thought too during the game, but then later I was racking my brain about this, but I felt like I played it correctly.

Hope your run gets better for you!

I agree with folding, but, if you're looking strictly at odds you're getting 1.73 if you call his all-in and you only need 1.36 at this point (you're about a 57/42 dog depending on the suits of his 10's). This only works if you KNOW he doesn't have AA or KK though.

Tourney poker, the prudent play is to lay this down and find a better place to take your shot.

I agree with the above. Good laydown. AK is defeintely the most overplayed hand in poker. There is a reason Doyle called in the Walking hand.
