Hello. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find a poker room that doesn't prioritize its live game playing clientle. Let me explain:

I called The Midnight Rose this afternoon and was told that I would have to play cash games in order to receive a coupon that I could then turn in to play in the tournament that night or, I could show up at 6:30 for registration and hope to get a seat. Now, I live about 175 miles from Cripple Creek and can't really afford taking those chances. That being said, I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get a seat in a tournament without going through all that. Whether it be in Blackhawk, Central City or Cripple Creek, I don't care. I just want to play live!

Thank you.

That may have been the freeroll. Check with the Double Eagle.

AFAIK, none of the casinos allow for you to pre-register over the phone, even if you're willing to pay.

Colorado Central Station and The Gilpin don't give preferential treatment to players playing in cash games for their tournaments. You just have to show up early enough to register. With CCS, they usually start registration about an hour before the tournament, and all you do is just start standing in line about 15 minutes prior to that hour. With The Gilpin, I'd probably just call in the morning and ask when they'll start registering players for the tournament in question.

I just got off the phone with a man from the Double Eagle and he told me the same thing, about not being able to register over the phone, which is fine. I didn't expect to be able to. And, there is no 2 hour play requirement for the Double Eagle on Mondays and Thursdays, only for the Sunday Freeroll, just so everyone knows. But, according to the man I spoke with from the Midnight Rose, there is a 2 hour play requirement for their tournaments so, if anyone's interested in going there, you may want to call or at least check with them to make sure that is correct. Anyways, I'll be heading up to the Double Eagle probably next Monday or Thursday and try my hand at some live poker. I hope to see some of you there. If you plan on going up, name's Joe, I'll be sporting a Green Bay Packers jersey. Say hey and hope you all have a good time and good luck.

Thank you.

I've played many many tournaments at the Midnight Rose and they have no playing requirements for anything except their freeroll, it's a bizarre myth. Because you usually can't get a seat unless you're there two hours early I usually play some hands at a cash table, but I've joined four tournaments without ever sitting down at a table.
