Last night was a good night at the Mirage. I meat bryan and jlavsfan down there, great guys.
Here is how my night went down;
That place was packed and they were starting to sign up alternates at 6:00pm sharp. The total number players were around 120-130. I start out dealing at one of the 10 tables (as usual) and I am really not feeling good. I was sick all day and could not hold anything down. My hands were shaking so bad that I was having trouble moving chips around. It was pretty funny actually. Almost everybody at the table knew me from previous poker nights. They were all cool! First round for a change was 25/50 blinds and no-limit betting, usually it is 25/50 and 50/100 betting for the first round, then no-limit after that. So people are going out left and right so that all the alternates could sit in. After the first 3 rounds, I was pretty well stacked and our table was broken up and moved around. I sat at a table where I was about 3rd in chips and I was catching hands left and right. After a couple more rounds they broke that table down and I was moved again. This time I was moved to one of the final 2 tables and I was about middle of the road as far as my chip count. I lost a couple of big pots, no big deal. With about 15 people left and the bar taking the top 7 players and qualifying them for the final tournament, I started playing pretty tight. I just want to qualify!
So with about 15 players left and this one guy at the table pretty much trading chips with me back and forth, I get pocket rockets. I hate pocket rockets! The button was 2 seats ahead of me so I was the big blind (5000), 4 or 5 other players only called the blind and when the option came to me, I decided to play them strong thinking that was the only way I was going to win and I raised all in 23,000. The two players to my left folded and the guy 3 down from me was the one that I was going back and forth with earlier only had 25,000 so I did not think that he was going to call me just to survive. He called my all in and everybody else that was playing folded. By this time there were people standing all the way around the table watching what was going on.
I turned over my Aces and everybody was ooohhh rockets! He turned his over and he was holding suited Big Slick of hearts. So now with our cards on the table I was thinking that he was going to need to get runner Kings for trips. I was feeling good about my Aces holding up then comes the Flop. The flop was ugly, something like 6h, 5c and 2h. So I am thinking crap he is going on a flush draw. The turn was 10c, all he needs is a heart and he takes it. What was the river……….9 HEARTS! Crap, I’m out.
Oh well, I still hate rockets because they are so hard to fold and hardly never win (at least for me). Lol
I’m not mad, Finished 14th of about 120. Not a bad night. Probably one of the most remember able I have had down there.
Good Times!
