Can you sign up on-line and get this "exclusive offer"?
I am not sure but when I talk to Eric I will ask or maybe he can answer directly. he is going to come and join the forums so you can get it direct.

Actually, on the website it says the first 1000 people who play in the poker room will receive an exclusive offer. Shame. I doubt I'll make it back to Blackhawk until this summer. :(

Same building as the Mardi Gras casino.
As you're heading northwest into Blackhawk on 119, turn left at Richman St, and their parking garage is straight ahead.

Gates poker parlour is located on the first floor of the parking garage that is shared by Golden Gates and Golden Mardi Gras. Park in garage take elevator to floor 1 and you are there

I stopped in there today. They are shooting for 12/21 as the opening date, but that's not set in stone.

A friend stopped by last night.
Here are some blurbs from our IM conversation:
* niiiiice room
* no 2/4 but all the typical stuff like 2/5 and 5/5
* nicest room in town as far as decor goes I think, plus set up better than the Gilpin
* kinda open to the rest of the 1st floor part of the casino, has a back entrance to the garage
* not very noisy
* the first thing you really see is a decent sized desk for the manager/brush, with the electronic tv on the wall for seating
* pillars had faux rock on them, very nice. obviously the place is still squeaky clean too
* tournaments yes but only daytime, like 11 or 11:30

This is the best room in Colorado right now. Obviously it helps that it is new, but thats not what makes it so nice.
pros:
There is plenty of room between tables, nice for getting up and taking breaks.
Floor staff interacts with all of the customers, not just the regulars.
Best group of dealers I've seen in a casino in CO yet. All of them on top of their games.
Chairs are real comfy, but they even have pillows for them if you want more cusion.
Tables have built in cup holders, but they put the cup holder in the middle of your sitting position, so I used the rolling tables for my drinks cause I hated reaching around to see my cards.
Auto shufflers.... like em or leave em... I guess I'm comming around on them.
Monitors (large flat screens) around the room that they can use for tourney, or the waiting list, or like when I was there mostly different TV stations.
cons:
Lighting... would of been fine, but it was constantly reflecting off my card cover into my eyes.... They have 3 high powered lights over every table, makes reading the cards easier though.
Elevator from garage does not go to poker room.
I'll be spending my time here from now on. Not sure how many tourneys they get going, but I really like this place. Felt like everything was in order. Wish they would offer free lunch or dinner after a few hours play(they might, but I wasn't offered, nor my wife after about 10 hours play in this room Thursday night and Friday early afternoon), but I'm sure they'll get there as the room pays for itself. Definetly give this room a try when you head up next time, you wont' be dissapointed!

If you just ask you can get a $4 food voucher for the little snack shop on the right side of the poker room, I must say the food is excellent for a small casino. Not a ton of stuff but enough variety that you won't get sick of it even if you play there every weekend.
It was only my second time playing there but they have already won me over as well...the staff is awesome, and the dealers were very good. The guy in charge of seating knew my name before I even said it when I requested to be put on the list for my third table (started at hold em, moved to omaha hi-lo, went broke and back to hold em where I got unstuck)
I think they are going to start doing a $55+5 tourney on the weekends, but I don't know for sure, it may be 11A like the others. If so I will have to start getting up ther earlier to play in it, because the Saturday $60 2PM tourney at CCS is pretty much impossible to get in these days. (when it was $40 at 1PM I never had a problem)
Anyway I can't say enough good things about Golden Gates poker room.

Alright I got the scoop on their tournaments. They are at Noon everyday, they may add some later ones in the future. Buy-in is $60 you start with 2500 in chips, 20 minute blinds. The blind structure is pretty fast something like 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000.
I plan on playing in it on Saturday, I'll let you know how it is.

Definitely let us know about the other details (# of players, 9/10/11 max to a table, payouts, etc.).
Good luck!

The one last Friday filled 2 tables I believe, must have been a few donkeys, because it seemed like they were down to one table in no time.

This is by far the nicest poker room in BlackHawk and they have the best tourney structure that I have seen. I have played in the Monday tourney 3 times. They are having some problems getting enough people because the place is so new. Mountain High has a tourney going on at the same time and gets twice the people and the structure is much worse, with the same buy in. When people start finding out about Golden Gates it will start filling up.

Well I didn't cash but I was playing 2/5 so I still have most of the details...
These are still pretty new so there isn't a ton of players, but they will take up to 66 players (11 handed, six tables) We had 17 people on Saturday and they paid the top 4. 1st was $375....I think they pay 40%,30%,20%,10% for three tables or less....they will pay more spots if they are full...
Blind structure is pretty fast....25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000.....etc.......you start with 2500 which is nice but I think they really need to add a 75/150 and 150/300 level.....
Really my single biggest complaint is this.....if you have a stack of chips in your hand, and you say "raise" you must put in the whole stack regardless of the amount you wish to bet.....I think if you verbally declare your amount first you are okay....I personally don't care for this rule....it didn't affect me at all but I saw 3 people get burned by it at my table...
overall it was well run and organized....I think with a couple more blind levels they could have the best structure for a $60 buy in tournament in Blackhawk and would certainly increase their turnout.
Well todays 'game plan' calls for me finally making the attempt to get up here this morning. We will see.

"]Really my single biggest complaint is this.....if you have a stack of chips in your hand, and you say "raise" you must put in the whole stack regardless of the amount you wish to bet.....I think if you verbally declare your amount first you are okay"
That is....stooooopid.
Well I went up there today and I have to say this place ROCKS.
It was very impressive. GREAT dealers ( some ex Gilpen dealers ) lots of room, fun people.
They didn't have a tourney today because not enough wanted to play so we just played cash games all day. Three 2-5 tables going when I left.
Very relaxing and comfortable so it made the day just fly by.
It also helps a lot that I had a winning day :) I was down after a couple of hours but then the Gods of the Flush smiled on me and I hit, and this is no joke, no less than 20+ flushes. Not one busted by another over flush or boat. It was surreal.
When I left this nice Asian lady who was at the table ran over to take my lucky seat and bought a rack of my 'lucky chips' from me before I cashed out. :001:
I will be going back, there is no doubt about that.
I think we need a DP field trip and go up and get a few tables going. I am sure they would accommodate us.

I asked them about that and they said that would only come into play IF you had chips in your hand AND made any kind of forward motion with them. So it's really a call of the floor if you are a shark just trying to get info on what people will do or if you are just a fish playing with your chips :)

I'd be willing to meet up there some time, just let me know when, sounds like a great room, last month when I went up I wanted to check out the Gilpin, next will be GG :)
Thanks for the info, let me know when you want to get a game going up there,

I just recently started playing here, and I like the poker room. I do however, not like this casino or its sister the mardi gras as I have had the non-poker staff act rude towards me when I'm there.
